News: Brandy Clark, Sydney Devine, Rissi Palmer
It was another busy weekend this past weekend within Country music. The Grand Ole Opry's 95th anniversary celebration aired in the States, hosted by Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton, on February 14th. It featured artists such as Dolly Parton, Lady A and Little Big Town to name a few.
Meanwhile Brandy Clark announced that she's bringing out a deluxe version of 'Your Life Is A Record' on March 5th to celebrate one year since it's original release. It will feature six new songs including two live versions and two collaborations with Brandi Carlile as well as the song Clark wrote with the Love Junkies for NPR's Song Project. We can't wait to hear it!
Scottish singer Sydney Devine sadly passed away this weekend at the age of 81. He was best known for his version of 'Tiny Bubbles' and sold over 15 million records Worldwide. His career spanned seven decades and in that time he worked with Roy Orbison, Dolly Parton and Charley Pride. He also recieved an MBE for his charity work.
A couple of great radio shows to check out include 'Color Me Country' presented by Rissi Palmer on Apple Music; this week she had Maren Morris, Cam and Andrea Williams on to discuss 'How To Be An Ally' as they looked at the racism and discrimination that's currently in the genre. Meanwhile Essential Radio also on Apple Music have just featured The Chicks, so that too is worth checking out.
